Greetings Brothers and Sisters,
I am sad to learn of the assassination of
our sister Berta Cáceres, a
staunch defender of Indigenous Rights in Honduras. Berta was a gift to Indigenous
Peoples —
not only in Honduras, but from around the world. The manner in
which Berta lived, and her work through the National Council of Popular and
Indigenous Organizations of Honduras (COPINH) followed our life-way. Berta will
always be a shining example to all of us.
To the COPINH and Berta's family members
and friends, I extend condolences. I share your loss, grieve deeply,
and pray for Berta's safe journey to the Spirit World. I will hold the COPINH in my
prayers, as well, as you continue the Struggle. Stay strong and know that you are not alone.

hermanas,
Me entristece la
noticia del asesinato de nuestra hermana Berta Cáceres, una incansable e acérrima
defensora indígena de Honduras. Berta era un regalo a la
gente indígena, no sólo en Honduras, sino en
todo el mundo. La manera en la que ella vivía, y a traves de su labor
con el Consejo Cívico de Organizaciones Populares e Indígenes de
Honduras
(COPINH), seguía nuestra manera de vivir.
Berta siempre será un
ejemplo brillante para todos nosotoros.
A COPINH y a todos los
familiares y amigos de Berta, les ofrezco mi más sentido pésame.
Comparto la pérdida junto con ustedes, hago de luto, y rezo
para el viaje seguro de Berta al mundo de los espíritus. COPINH estará en mis oraciones mientras sigue en la lucha. Qué sean fuertes y qué sepan que no están solos.
